In going over the work to be exhibited in Xiang Sha Wan, I wondered about the title of the body of work, “Hell’s Half Acre.” To me, the concept of hell is distinctly a Christian concept. How would it translate into a culture that is decidedly non Christian? After some brainstorming the problem I decided the show will be exhibited as “Ancient Desert: Etched in Time.” I figured the title of the show more closely relates to the landscape shown in each photograph. The individual pictures will still be enumerated with the Hell’s Half Acre name as a tribute to the location.
