What a long strange trip this has been. This has been one of the oddest photo safaris I have experienced in many years. We have photographed many different subjects on this trip. Beaches, sloughs, rocks, surf, fog, an old church, an old fort, and (today) a boat yard have all been in front of my camera at one time or another over the past six days. I am not sure if this is because we have not focused (pun intended) on a particular project, but have been photographing a particular location. The difference is between photographing a specific subject (Fort Worden, Hell’s Half Acre, the Heckman Farm) or photographing a specific place, in this case, the Long Beach Peninsula. We did not have a specific agenda or plan, but just kind of went with the flow and photographed whatever the time, tide and weather let us photograph. The results seem to be unfocused (another pun) but we’ve had a great time.
I have never tried to photograph in a boatyard. I had no idea what to expect. It was a pretty interesting way to spend a morning. This old gal is a beauty. I would like to see her when she’s done.
I think we have photographed everything we want to photograph on the peninsula. Now we have to try to figure out what to do with the next day and a half. I can see the end of the vacation. I measure that by how easy it is to get all the vitamins out of the bottle. It’s getting real easy to get all those different pills out of the bottle. That means it’s getting close to the end of this photo safari.
